Power of the Purse is a charitable giving circle established under the Minot Area Community Foundation in August 2007. Founded by a group of eight, they decided to organize some of the most positive and intelligent women to network and strengthen our community by financially investing together and giving of their time and resources.
Growth & Impact: Since its inception, the group has grown significantly and, as of the end of 2025, has granted more than $530,000 into the community. Power of the Purse continues to focus its efforts on supporting programs that benefit women and children in the community.
Why Join: We bring together women who want to make a meaningful difference in our community through collective giving. For some members, Power of the Purse is an opportunity to amplify their individual giving by joining with like-minded women to support local nonprofits and community initiatives. For others, it provides a way to become more actively involved in community philanthropy and learn more about the needs and opportunities in our area. All Power of the Purse members have the opportunity to connect with fellow community-minded women, learn about local issues and nonprofits, and play a direct role in deciding where collective funds are invested.
